The first generation of the Audi S8, known as the D2, was produced from 1996 to 2003. It featured a 4.2-liter V8 engine with 340 PS (335 hp). The D2 S8 could go from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 6.2 seconds and had a curb weight of 1,730 kg (3,814 lb). In 1999, the engine power was increased to 369 PS (364 hp), reducing the 0 to 60 mph time to 5.6 seconds. The top speed was electronically limited to 155 mph (249 km/h), and the curb weight increased to 1,845 kg (4,068 lb). The Audi S8 (D2) was featured as the main car in the film “Ronin”.
(D3) Second Generation
The second generation of the Audi S8, known as the D3, was produced from 2006 to 2010. This model featured a modified V10 engine. The one used in the Lamborghini Gallardo of the same period. The engine produced 450 PS (444 hp), which was 50 PS (49 hp) less than the Gallardo’s 500 PS (493 hp) to improve fuel efficiency. The top speed was electronically limited to 155 mph (249 km/h). The third generation of the Audi S8, known as the D4, was produced from 2012 to 2015, with a facelift version from 2015 to 2018.
